When I was a kid, I remember thinking that a trip to the opticians was a little too much like going to the doctor or the dentist. It was, after all, a health service; full of clever people in white coats who held the secrets behind the windows to your soul. I’m afraid it can still feel like that at times; busy professionals, squeezing you in for a check-up and blinding you (no pun intended) with weird science along the way. Of course, no optometrist worth their salt would ever want to do that, but very often the result can be the unfortunate legacy of past experiences. It can be such a daunting experience that (with just a little playful exaggeration), as a customer, you leave feeling that you’re just grateful to still have an eye in your head!
At Jonathan Hall Opticians we’re not like that. Of course we would say that wouldn’t we. But really, we’re not. At JHO we are committed to making all our customers - new and established - feel like they’re a valued part of the whole process. It is a holistic experience, one that takes you on a kaleidoscopic journey to the back of your eye! Despite making that trip day and daily, we still marvel ourselves at seeing the results, and since, just like finger prints, every image is unique, we take great delight in sharing your singularity with you. Stepping into our clinic, is stepping into a warm and welcoming environment, one where you can relax and deliberate from now until the cows come home, over a choice or choices, that will ultimately bring you peace of mind, and boost your positive self-image.
It has long been a given that eyewear and fashion are comfortable bedfellows. Geek chic has given way to sophistication and a new bolder breed. What one might call the urbane urbanite! Dorothy Parker’s well-trodden, if mildly amusing, declaration that “men seldom make passes at girls who wear glasses” is now nothing more than a spectral misconception that I’m afraid went out with Nelson’s eye (pun intended that time)!!
Like any other fashion accessory, your glasses will add a defining touch to any look. Whether you’re searching out the power executive aura or have a hankering for the hipster intellectual, we will cater for all your needs. A good tip is to think about the clothes you choose to wear before you visit us. Pick something that you think will be representative of your usual style. And make sure your hair is exactly how you would like it to be. That might sound a little intrusive but when comes to glasses, different styles call for…well… different styles. For men, even something like a ‘5 o’clock shadow’ can tip a decision one way or another, especially if you are, in point of fact, after that designer dishevelled look.
You might also want to think about getting yourself a spare pair of specs. Not just because, if you’re like me, you can be a little absent minded at times. Think instead about the myriad looks you project for yourself. You wouldn’t be happy with owning just one suit or one pair of shoes. Why feel any differently about something that can easily become the very essence of your appearance.
Check us out. We’ll be delighted to see you and I believe you will be delighted by what you’ll find. We don’t like to blow our own trumpet here at JHO…actually strike that from the record. Why wouldn’t we toot our own horn. I think you might just want to know for instance that we were very recently named the Northern Ireland Optometry Practice of the Year for 2014 at the Business Eye Healthcare Awards. You see we have a vision (last pun I promise) and that commitment to our customers was duly rewarded. Come on down and see us, and find out for yourself. You’ll not be disappointed.
